Judge Maban Wright was appointed to the bench by Governor Laura Kelly in 2022. Judge Wright graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A in History; she studied Law at the University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow, ID. Prior to her appointment, J. Wright worked for the Kansas State Board of Indigent Defense Services. In that capacity, J. Wright was an Assistant, Deputy, and Chief Public Defender at various offices, including the Death Penalty Defense Unit. J. Wright has lived in Topeka since 2008. She is married, with two daughters.
