Honorable C. William Ossmann
Judge Bill Ossmann was appointed to the bench in 2012 to serve the 3rd judicial district where he currently serves as chairperson of the criminal department and judge of the Drug Treatment and Veteran’s Treatment Courts.
He graduated from Kansas State University and the Washburn University School of Law. He has a MPA degree for Kansas University.
He is an adjunct professor at Washburn University School of Law where he coaches one of the trial teams and teaches trial advocacy, depositions, cross examination, advanced evidence: experts and advanced trial advocacy. He was named Adjunct of the Year four times.
Judge Ossmann also teaches trial skills with the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, serving as the program director for the Kansas NITA public service program.
He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career including the Kansas Bar Association Distinguished Government Service Award, the Topeka Bar Association Warren W. Shaw Distinguished Service Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Washburn University School of Law Alumni Association and the Judicial Excellence Award from the Kansas District Judges’ Association.
He is by all accounts a well-rounded, humble and gregarious human being.
