Judge Nancy E. Parrish was appointed to the bench in 1994. She served as Chief Judge from December, 2005 through December, 2013. She serves as chair of the Pattern Instruction for Kansas Committee (PIK) and chair of the 3rd Judicial District Criminal Department. She was president of the Kansas District Judges Association (2009-2010) and chair of the Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines (2001-2009). Previously, she served as Secretary of the Dept. of Revenue, as a member of the Board of Tax Appeals and as a State Senator for 12 years. She was graduated cum laude from K-State and magna cum laude from Washburn Law School. She also has a masters in Special Education from KU. The judge has been an adjunct law professor at Washburn and serves on a number of community boards. She is married and has four adult sons. She enjoys reading, water skiing, snow skiing and her grandchildren.
